Happy New Year!

For the past two months we have kept ourselves busy with the post hurricane clean up, gardening, sailing and Christmas preparations.

The Island recovered quickly from Hurricane Tomas, although there are still areas that will take a long time to reconstruct and there are still communities without mains water. The tourists are back and there are only a few attractions that have limited access.

We were fortunate that Jill and Herbs visit only had to be postponed by one week and when they came they were armed with water purification tablets, baby clothes and other useful stuff like toothbrushes! It was all gratefully received by the Red Cross which did a fantastic job feeding and clothing ravaged communities.

We had a lot of fun during their visit and are pleased to report no breakages of limbs or champagne corks going astray. We did have rather a lot of rain though so we had to have rainy day play times with Wii and piton. Jeff and Herb managed an over- night stop in Martinique as well as joining the sailing rally that marks the beginning of the ARC race in the Canaries.

We were invited to an American Thanksgiving dinner at Doreen’s house which was wonderful. We all ate and drank too much and thanked everyone concerned…that’s the general idea, isn’t it? Looking round the table there were no true Americans but it was a great excuse for a get together.

We had lots more rain after the hurricane which made the clean-up more difficult.

These papayas were gorgeous...juicy and sweet, the biggest weighing in at 5lbs 7 oz.

Christmas came in a rush and we had so much fun with John and Fi. We got into the party mood early and managed to sustain the enthusiasm all the way to New Year.
First few days of a great visit.

Christmas Day

An exceptional turkey once again...the BBQ does a great job and keeps the kitchen cool.

Walks to the beach are enjoyed by all ... especially if you have a cold piton to enjoy.

Traditional Christmas activities of making calabash bowls.

Relaxing at the hotel pool bar.

The fitness regime has been postponed for a few weeks as Jeff’s brother Jonathan and his partner Stewart arrived on January 1st for a 10 day stay. This led to more eating, drinking and late nights, followed by days in the sun, sailing and relaxing.

Foxy has found another willing human to keep her comfortable!

Well that's us up to date. Happy New Year to one and all.
