Those girls should have come with a government health warning! We had a great second week with them and managed to surprise them with trips on a large motor yacht and an evening boat trip to a lovely restaurant on the other side of Castries. They then made the counter attack and surprised us with a final night out at a very lovely restaurant on the other side of Marigot Bay. They were all such fun and it was a privilege to be with them as they each went through nail biting times awaiting texts and e-mails to inform them of their degree results. All six of them got 2-1’s in their various subjects so we felt we were in learned company indeed. Two of them managed to climb a piton, with Jeff as mentor, so that’s twice in a month for him

They left on Tuesday and we had five days to regroup before Mum arrived. Since then the weather has been very good and life has been led at a somewhat quieter pace. We are back to buying plants and planning the garden. Jeff has had the last huge bonfire and our ravine is now ready for some landscaping and planting.

The day after the girls left, the new addition arrived, Obie the Dobie, an eight-week-old Doberman. He entered our lives as a smallish puppy, huge feet and a little shy. Since then he has blossomed into a confident chap. He and Foxy play hard, chewing face and chomping at throats. They love each others company and neither have any jealousies or are possessive about toys or food. They are complete time wasters as we spend a lot of time watching them play. Obie is no respecter of wooden floors as he has yet to master the art of peeing outside 100% of the time, but he is getting there.

The first of the hurricanes passed us by way to the north so lets hope that’s it for this year. We keep checking stormcarib.com to keep an eye on things. This year we will be in clover as we have our concrete hurricane basement, a generator and a fridge full of cold beer. Sorted!!
