Just a quick blog before we set off for UK. It has been so wet it might make a change to get to some crisp English weather. No one can remember a rainy season like it. There has been flooding in Castries, landslides along the roads and houses washed away. Although hurricane Omar went past us to the west and headed of north it still had a sting in its tail for us as the seas were huge and we had two days of rollers crashing onto the normally sheltered beaches on the west side of the Island. Some beaches have disappeared altogether as have water front homes and cafes.

Looking down on Trou Rolland

The water front at Soufriere.

Marigot spit awash.

A yacht that had dragged its anchor ,Reduit Beach, Rodney Bay.

We haven’t been able to do any planting in the garden as the ground is just too heavy and water logged. Everything is looking lush though and once it gets some prolonged sunshine we should see a lot of growth. Our tomatoes are just beginning to flower so hopefully we should be eating them by Christmas. We have harvested our first bananas though, all 129 of them. There are very tasty and huge. We have started to give them away as we will never get through them

We have just had the RAF netball team out here for a fortnight and watched a couple of the matches. Jeff was their point of contact should they need any help. As it was, they all had a fabulous time and six of them even managed to come sailing with us when we were returning our boat from Rodney Bay back to Marigot. It had been up there for a few days having an electric furlex system fitted.

The quiet season continues here, not many sailors about but a few people taking holidays. The dogs are fine and manage to keep us amused even though they create such a lot of housework. They wander throughout the fenced in property, having great fun but arrive back covered in mud and traipse it through the house. Foxy is having daily baths whilst Obie just needs brushing.
