Aaaarrrggghhh!!! We had a week of dry weather and called in the excavator to cut out the drive way and sort out the other side of the house. It rained as he trundled up the hill and hasn’t stopped. We are really disappointed as this holds up lots of other jobs, like getting the generator in the hut and then calling in the electrician for the final bits of his contract. The window man has failed to arrive with the promised French windows, perhaps next week he says. The painter eventually arrived back, but by this time one of our permanent team, who’d recently fallen of his motorbike, came back to work and needed to do light duties, so jumped (not literally as he as a nasty injury to his leg) at the chance of being a painter rather than a labourer. He has proved to be very good and has finished off two bedrooms and the landing this week, so he will continue doing this until the end of the build. The kitchen is being made, slowly but surely, as are the shelves and TV cabinet in the sitting room area.
Lots of plumbing stuff has been done outside but these pipes are now covered over, so nothing to show but a beautifully concreted area by the side of the house and a small kitchen garden that sort of evolved when Jeff saw the potential of a raised bed just below the kitchen. The salad crops will grow well there as they have a lot of sun but are protected on three sides by a wall.
All the tiling has been completed and looks very smart. We were lucky to find such a perfectionist who enjoys getting it just right.

This weekend Jeff and I are sailing down to the Pitons and staying over night, moored to a buoy outside Benny’s, a local restaurant that does great fresh fish. We are taking Foxy with us for her first sailing trip as there is a beach close by that she can use for a run about, otherwise it’s a pee over the side if things get desperate.

Last night we met up with Gordon, who had flown the Virgin flight but unfortunately it was only to be a one-night stopover, just a flying visit!
